I’ll be honest with you, dear reader; I’m not that big on brunch. Day-drinking mimosas make me sleepy, and avocado toast does not make a hearty meal. Just pass me a bagel and coffee! I’m good.
This, of course, was all before I tried Doc B’s brunch menu. “Doc B’s has a brunch?” you’re all thinking. I know the Miracle Mile restaurant is known for its reasonable happy hour, bacon bar treats, and that Angry Meatball which just about calls my name every time I pass the restaurant. But, brunch? Yup, they serve up brunch too.
I’m a fan of Doc B’s. I like places where the service is, and the food never disappoints (I can be very fussy about certain things. Did that tirade on brunches tip you off by any chance?). Doc B’s is one of those spots that never disappoints. Bless it. When they invited me in to try their brunch menu, it was a resounding, “uh yeah!” If one place would change my mind on brunch, it would be Doc B’s.
Sunday brunch came around, and I brought my trusty friend and fellow Doc B’s fan, Emily with me. We weren’t about to pass up a meal at Doc B’s! You crazy? Again, I love Doc B’s for its impeccable service. The only time they let me down was when they ran out of Angry Meatballs one night. It was rough, but I made it though. We were seated and introduced to our angel of a server, Gaby. She was very attentive, friendly, and even laughed at one of my jokes. Was it even a good one? Who cares! I was flattered! The meal was off to a great start.

We went for a round of mimosas while perusing the menu. I know, I know, mimosas make me sleepy, but WHEN IN ROME. Or when at Doc B’s for brunch, that is. I ordered the “Hot” Chicken and Waffle although my heart did waver towards the Cinn-a-Swirl pancake, which from my understanding is a pancake and a cinnamon bun in one. My God, my mouth is watering as we speak. My dining partner went for a healthier option: the Quinoa Bowl, which was packed full of veggies, protein, and super grains. Not for me. I’ll take the heart attack, fam! Our meals were delicious. The chicken had just the right amount of heat, and the waffles were fluffy and sweet. Sweet and savory! Who can complain? I took a bite of Emily’s Quinoa Bowl. It was good if you’re into that sort of thing. Which, we all are sometimes, but it’s Doc B’s brunch, my people. You’ve got to live a little!
A note on service: When the syrup for my waffles was low, Gaby came to the rescue without me having to ask. Like I said, an angel. We were asked repeatedly if we wanted mimosa refills, to which we said yes, to which I had a nap afterward. Our table was also wiped down, and the manager came up to us for a casual chat—my favorite kind of chat. Bless him. By the way, this isn’t just special treatment. I’ve received similar treatment every time I’ve come into Doc B’s! What. A. Joy. They care about your experience. Can you say that about every place in town? I think not!
Overall, Doc B’s brunch is under the radar, and I genuinely have no idea why! Quality service, quality food. Just quality. Go, take your family, take me, take Emily, just try the dang brunch and see if it’ll change how you brunch!
