Combination Skin Routine for Miami’s Hot & Humid Summer

Combination Skin Routine for Summer in Miami

Combination Skin Struggles During Summer

I ran a poll asking my Instagram followers if they had combination skin just like I do. And guess what? 90% share my struggles of having a shiny forehead and dry cheeks. I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out a skin routine that will keep my oily T-zone under control while moisturizing my dry cheeks and neck. Now let’s add the fact that we live in Miami – a tropical place where it’s pretty much hot and humid all year round. It’s a sticky situation; but I bring great news!

Perfect Combination Skin Routine – Step by Step

I discovered a skin routine that takes care of my combination skin needs in Miami’s Summer weather. It’s from England and it’s called Liz Earle. The products are made from natural ingredients and keep your skin regimen simple.

Step 1: Combination Skin Cleanser

I apply Liz Earle Clean & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser with dry hands on my dry face. Massage it all over. Then, I dampen the cloth in warm water and wipe all over to remove the cleanser. In the areas where I’m a tad oiler (*ahem forehead*), I use the freshly rinsed cloth again and work in small circles to cleanse effectively – only where I need it – to avoid stripping the skin. The cloth gently buffs the skin everyday pushing it to renew itself and reveal radiant skin.

Step 2: Combination Skin Toner

I use water-based Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic instead of a regular toner. The difference is toners use alcohol and it’s harsher for my skin. When using the Liz Earle tonic I’m not stripping my skin because it’s a water-based light product.

Step 3: Combination Skin Moisturizer

Since I hydrated with the water-based tonic, I can keep my moisturizer application light. I apply it only in the dry areas of the skin to keep my skin balanced. For me it’s the cheeks and neck. I think this was the MOST IMPORTANT PART of the combination skin routine that led to immediate results.

Only applying moisturizer on dry areas prevents my T-zone from getting over-oily and my dry skin from getting flaky. Instead, I have a balanced complexion without applying too much moisturizer that can overload the skin. I only use the tonic on my forehead and skip the moisturizer completely in that area. I saw a reduction of oiliness on my forehead on the first day! I’m so excited about this discovery and can’t wait to see long-term results.

Step 4: Apply Sunscreen

Miami’s sun is unrelenting and we have to take extra care to protect our skin from sun damage. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect sunscreen. What’s your favorite sunscreen?

That’s it! This combination skin routine is nice and easy for me. I saw instant results in the way my skin feels: velvety and fresh. Let me know what you think of this skin care line.

I just discovered them myself! They just started selling in the US, but they are a long time brand in the UK. Let me know what you think :)
